Beach Volleyball
Phoenix, AZ

My name is Macy Gordon, and I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I am 17 years old and currently a junior in high school at Xavier College Preparatory, one of the highest ranked private high schools in the nation. I was born and have grown up in Phoenix, and I love it here! I am one of five children; I have two younger sisters and two older brothers, one of which is my twin. I come from a very athletic family; every year over New Year's, my family and I travel to Colorado and ski together. My brothers both play basketball and do Crossfit while my second youngest sister is a gymnast and my youngest sister is a soccer player.
As a kid, I was a competitive gymnast and loved everything about the sport except beam. In fifth grade, I quit gymnastics and was persuaded by my mom to try volleyball. I started indoor club volleyball when I was in sixth grade at Arizona Storm Volleyball club. After playing there for two years, I switched to a very small club called Arizona Saguaros.
Freshman year, I played on the Freshman indoor Volleyball team for my high school. During the spring of that year, I tried out for Varsity Sand Volleyball and was lucky enough to make the team. In my sophomore year of high school, I played on Xavier's indoor JV team as an outside hitter and after that season, I decided to become a full-time sand volleyball player. When I'm not playing volleyball, I'm either playing tennis, having a jam session on my piano or petting my dog, Jake. I have been playing tennis since I was 10 years old and playing piano and singing since I was 8 years old; I still continue to take lessons for both of these hobbies today.
Through many of my friends, I found RPM Sand Elite, run by Ryan Mariano, and joined his club. I love being a part of it and cannot wait to take my game to the next level. I hope to be able to play collegiately and dream of playing in the Olympics someday. :)
